mode1charlieBacked.
mode1charlieThis worthy project has just re-launched on Kickstarter, and is off to a much stronger start than before (timing is everything, it seems).

On Facebook, writer/director Zack Weil noted that "After only three days, we're 74% funded with almost $15K raised!"

I'm a backer and hope others in the cS community will back it as well. I'm sure we'd all like to hear these stories documented for future generations, and presented to the wider audience that they so richly deserve. (I have no personal connection to the filmmakers or the project, other than as a backer.)

'When We Were Apollo' crowdfunded film to focus on moon landing workforce

A new crowd-funded documentary will look at the crowd behind the Apollo moon landings.

"When We Were Apollo," which reached its funding goal of $20,000 on Kickstarter, aims to address "what was it like to go to the moon — for the rest of Apollo's workforce?"

JonnyedGreat project!
PhilipLooking forward to this...
denali414What a great idea — really looking forward to seeing this. Wonder if they will go the "museum" route and it become a feature film at the museums.
Robert PearlmanThe filmmakers behind "When We Were Apollo" have returned to Kickstarter for "finishing funds."
Previous films have focused on the stories of astronauts and figureheads, but few to-date have centered around the contributions and recollections of Apollo's "everyday" worker. Since January, we've interviewed nearly 20 Project Apollo alumni from California to Florida, documenting the stories of individuals like NASA engineers Al Koller and Delano Hyter, to IBM contractor Martha Lemasters and North American Aviation test pilot Wallace Johnson. Well into our edit, we expect to complete the film by early 2019.

Where the Money Goes

  • Completing the edit
  • Color correcting
  • Music licensing and composition
  • Final sound mix
JeffThanks for the post Robert, not sure how I missed this last October, but I've backed it now.
Jurg BolliI just saw this documentary on PBS and liked it a great deal. Lots of old footage and great recollections of some of the people that were part of it.
